Dates to Submit Entries: The deadline to submit entries for the 2008 International Awards of Excellence is July 18, 2008.

Award Notification: Entrants will be notified by e-mail, whether or not they have won awards. Results will NOT be given out over the phone, so please make sure APSP has your correct e-mail.

How Do I Enter?
1. Visit http://www.omnicontests3.com/apsp/omnicontests to log in to the competition. Type in your APSP member number for both the user id and the password, then click “Log In.”

2. The next page, which is the Entrant Page, has all your company information. Be sure to update this information and make any corrections necessary. Once you have finished with this page, you are ready to submit entries at your leisure.

3. Step 2 will bring you to the ADD Entry Page, where you will be allowed to add the details of the project. Please note that the description box on this page is limited to 50 words or less. Also, you will not be allowed to upload pictures until after you have clicked “Save.”

4. After you have uploaded your pictures and clicked “Save,” you will be ready to either return to Step 2 and enter more entries, go to Step 3 and edit an existing entry, or go on to Step 4 to make a payment.

5. Once you hit the “Submit” button, your entries are processed (i.e., all information is checked for accurate and complete information, then numbered and recorded).

Please note: A manual processing fee of $50.00 per entry will be charged for all entries mailed to and processed by APSP.

The competition features 40-plus categories, organized as follows:

Pools

  • Type of construction (i.e., concrete, vinyl-lined, fiberglass, aboveground)
  • Style of design (i.e., freeform, traditional, geometric, natural)
  • Size of installation
  • Residential vs. semi-public vs. public
  • Distinguishing features (i.e., with covers, screened, etc.)
  • Pools built outside the United States and Canada

Hot Tubs/Spas

  • Type of construction/manufacturing (i.e., concrete, manufactured, portable, swim spas, hot tubs)
  • Hot tubs installed outside the United States and Canada

Water Features

  • Residential
  • Commercial

Awards
Note: International Awards of Excellence entries may receive Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Awards of Merit and Special Judges’ Awards. Total number and type of awards bestowed on entries are at the discretion of the judges. For categories with two or more Gold Medal winners, one may be declared “Best of Category.”

Chairman’s Award
The APSP introduced the prestigious Chairman’s Awards in 2005. Four Chairman’s Awards were presented, one each in the categories of residential pools, commercial pools, hot tubs and spas, and water features. In 2006, a fifth Chairman’s Award was presented for international entries.

What Wins Awards?

  • The latest trends in construction and new technologies (e.g., vanishing edges, new materials, application of new materials, etc.)
  • Quality of workmanship
  • Creativity (e.g., unusual designs, effective use of space, etc.)
